The S.H.A.U.N. Foundation for Girls is a grant-making 501(c)(3) founded by Emmy Award-winning journalist and television host Shaun Robinson. The Foundation supports small-to-medium sized nonprofits across the country working to break down barriers for girls and young women. Each letter of S.H.A.U.N. represents a mission pillar: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math; Health; Arts; Unity; and Neighborhoods. The Foundation does not make grants directly to individuals but instead forms strategic partnerships with organizations already doing meaningful, on-the-ground work.
The Foundation identifies small-to-medium nonprofits across the country doing meaningful work for girls and young women, forming strategic partnerships and providing funding to help those organizations go further in their missions.
Supporting programs that get girls interested and engaged in science, technology, engineering, and math – addressing the systemic barriers that keep girls underrepresented in these fields.
Investing in organizations that promote healthy lifestyles for young women and fight the health disparities that disproportionately affect girls and women of color.
Funding work that promotes positive, powerful representations of young women in the arts – helping girls see themselves reflected in the stories, images, and culture around them.
Connecting girls across the world through cross-cultural programs while also investing directly in organizations improving quality of life for girls in underserved communities.
